The Dionysus Brazilian Theater Festival is a groundbreaking event dedicated to uniting cultures through theater.
Our inaugural festival took place in November 6th to 10th, 2024 in Miami.
It will explore the theme "Echoes of Madness" and celebrate the therapeutic power of art and its role in mental wellness.
The Festival was conceived by actress, writer, and producer Ana Bugarim and will bring a rich program inspired by the works of Brazilian literary giant Lima Barreto, French philosopher Gaston Bachelard, and pioneering psychiatrist Dr. Nise da Silveira.
Organized by the nonprofit Creation Art Center INC, this festival will feature renowned theater director Djalma Thürler and psychiatrist Dr. Jean Pierre Hargreaves from Rio de Janeiro.
Our festival's mission is to promote Brazilian theater and culture, making it accessible to Miami's diverse population.
We believe this festival will enrich Miami's vibrant cultural scene and foster greater appreciation for Brazilian literature and art.
This project has already been awarded a Community Grant from Miami-Dade County.
Collaborative activities with the University of Miami, Miami Dade College, and the Hispanic Cultural Art Center, presented in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.
